Tony Macpela is a video designer for theater and a video-mapping artist. The two jobs share a machine and almost nothing else about the room. Theater video has to live with actors, a text, and a director's timing. Mapping has to live with a surface that was not built to be a screen: a kitchen, a mural, a facade, an outdoor festival rig. This page holds both, and each project URL says which one it is. The stage video credits published in the archive are Sirene pe Dâmbovița (live visuals and narrative projection along the river, directed by Gabriel Sandu), Fire de lumina, Cosmic Latte (pre-rendered picture beside live laser), Noroc sa ai (a two-screen slot machine, directed by Adina Lazar), and Clovni (video and lighting, directed by Alexandru Ivanoiu). They are not a reel with one style. A myth on a river, a musical descent through ancestry, a cosmic scan, a gambling cabinet, and a show born from therapeutic clowning do not want the same edit.
Mapping is its own list: This Kitchen Is For Mapping, the UNATC facade piece, the mural at 2 Mai-Și Festival, and the outdoor demo filed as Light Up. Separately, the AproapE suite is video projection for performative readings of current Hispanic theater — Singură cu Marilyn, Chiriaș, De parcă seara asta ar fi..., and Epoca frigului. A reading is not a facade. The suite pages say video projection and name the director. They do not pretend to be architectural mapping.
Pentru regizori și pentru festivaluri, formularea corectă este video designer de teatru sau video mapping, nu doar "proiecție". Tony Macpela lucrează ambele: imagine live în sală și suprafețe care nu sunt ecrane — bucătărie, mural, fațadă, exterior. iMapp și Spotlight ocupă căutarea goală "video mapping" în București. If the job is a beam rather than a picture, start at laser design. If the picture has to answer a body in the room, start at interactive installations. Video that also has to be operated as a show system sits next to the technical director credits, especially where the sheet already says lighting.
