Tony Macpela builds interactive installations: rooms and objects that change because someone entered, moved, gestured, or pressed. The public set is seven installations plus one stage piece, Noroc sa ai, whose credit line is interactive and video design. A search for interactive installation Romania or instalație interactivă should find the work by name — ASCEND, Presence Error, Sonification Room — and not a homepage whose counters were still zero when the crawler saved it.
The interfaces are not interchangeable, and the pages refuse to pretend they are. Presence Error uses Azure Kinect and a high-powered laser to keep only the outline of a body. Holotouch uses Leap Motion and hand signs to trigger video. Ink Flow uses a webcam and Python: movement becomes ink, stillness wears a face, a clap returns the shape to the pool. House Crash publishes oversized physical controls and a collapsing cityscape, and stops there. The Space Between Us turns the distance between a viewer and a canvas into the image. Sonification Room turns mirrors, beams, and light sensors into a shared instrument. Project: Ascend lets a visitor name and customize a statue, see it projected, and hold a 3D print. Featured at Ars Electronica 2025.
None of these descriptions is a manual. If the sheet does not say what a button does, the page will not invent the rule. That restraint is the difference between a case study and a doorway page stuffed with the same paragraph seven times. What repeats is the author and the city. What does not repeat is the sensing method. Hiring "an interactive something" without saying which of those methods you mean is how these pieces get blurred into a gadget demo.
ASCEND is the piece with an independent public page at Ars Electronica, and that URL is in the sameAs of the site so the festival credit and this domain describe one person. The MA named there is Interactive Technologies for Performing and Media Arts at UNATC. Write to maccpela@gmail.com or call +40 720 906 907. If the work you want is a mapped facade rather than a responsive room, use the video mapping list. If you want only the beam, use laser design.
