Mostly Fine, Thanks — video still, Laser Design by Tony Macpela

Mostly Fine, Thanks is laser design for an intimate show about coping, and about the thin line between fine and not fine. Directed by Roxana Popa. Tony's own sentence says the laser is both spectacle and metaphor. That double duty is the whole brief. A beam that is only pretty fails the metaphor. A metaphor you cannot see fails the spectacle. Intimate scale makes the problem stricter: there is nowhere to hide a weak idea behind haze and a chorus.

Nothing on the card says the laser draws words, outlines a body, or scans a prerender. Those techniques belong to other titles — Presence Error for the outline, Cosmic Latte for the scan. Using them here would be fan fiction about his own work. What belongs here is the subject. Coping is not a lookbook. The light has to be able to mean "I'm fine" and mean the opposite without a costume change. Spectacle is still required, because he wrote the word. The YouTube document in the sheet is the place to see how those two demands were actually balanced. This text will not narrate shots it cannot verify.

If the room is small and the subject is personal, this is the laser precedent. If the room is a cosmic stack of departments, read Cosmic Latte. If the beam has to be touched and redirected by the audience, read Sonification Room, which is an installation, not this play. Tony Macpela in Bucharest takes the conversation from the credit you name.

Seen beside the rest of the archive, Mostly Fine, Thanks sits next to Sirene pe Dâmbovița (Video Design), Fire de lumina (Video · Laser Design), Cosmic Latte (Laser · Lighting · Video Design). The point of keeping them on separate URLs is that a search for the piece, and a search for the job, land on a page that names Tony Macpela and the actual credit — Laser Design — rather than on a single scrolling file the crawler never finished reading.

Hiring the Laser Design credit on Mostly Fine, Thanks means hiring Tony Macpela in Bucharest, an actor who also designs laser, video, and interactive systems — not a CNC cutting shop, and not an anonymous rental house. The director named on the credit is Dir. Roxana Popa. The published description is the brief he is willing to print. Write to maccpela@gmail.com or call +40 720 906 907 and name the credit you need, so the acting conversation and the design conversation stay distinct.
